More than just a volunteer vacation, we at GrowHouse NYC are designing a Gap Year program to provoke thought and immerse participants fully in new experiences and African Diaspora cultures for self development. Our goal is full rollout of a 9 month program in 2022.
GROWHOUSE NYC X BIRTHRIGHT AFRICA 2019 -
In an innovative partnership with Birthright AFRICA, GrowHouse NYC is excited to offer a ten day, all-expense paid trip to Ghana for people of African descent aged 18 - 30.
10 young adults from marginalized communities in the New York Tri-State area will be selected from a pool of applicants.
Learn more about Birthright AFRICA, and its mission here.
PROGRAM STRUCTURE -
Our series of carefully-crafted explorations starts in the United States. We then trace the legacies and histories of self-determination, entrepreneurship, connection, and innovation across the African diaspora ending in a 10 day educational program in Ghana.
In doing this work, we hope to connect creators and innovators to one another across generations, countries, and continents.
United States Explorations
As people of African descent, we can claim the whole world as our birthright. We needn’t be confined to the place of our birth because we have cousins all over the globe, on every continent.
The deadline to submit your application is Friday, May 17th.
Accepted applicants will be notified on May 31st.
